Allison Thomas

Allison Thomas (f.k.a. Smalley) is an associate with MeehanLaw, LLC focusing on family law and criminal defense.

Allison graduated cum laude from St. John’s University School of Law where she served as the Internals Director for the Polestino Trial Advocacy Institute and competed in several mock trial competitions. Allison also served as a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and as an Editorial Editor on The Forum-Student Newspaper. Allison was also the Secretary of the Criminal Law Society and a member of the Public Interest Center.  

Allison joins the firm as an experienced litigator. Upon graduating with her JD, Allison worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she represented the People of New York in criminal matters from violations to felonies. She also worked with the Human Trafficking Response Unit. Allison then worked as an Associate Attorney at Martin Clearwater & Bell, a medical malpractice firm, where she represented hospitals, university medical centers, senior living centers, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals in medical liability actions. Most recently, Allison worked as an Assistant Chief Counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where she represented the federal government in removal and deportation proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and was selected to join the human rights team.
