Areas of Pracice Medical, Dental and Legal Malpractice

Fighting insurance carriers on behalf of victims of negligence requires intense preparation, experience and a strong foundation in the knowledge of the medical and dental issues involved in each unique client’s case.

Malpractice occurs in all aspects of the health industry. Healthcare providers owe every patient a duty to provide the level of care that is accepted by similar providers throughout that particular field of medicine. The deviation from those standards of care is malpractice.

A primary focus of the firm, and Rich Meehan in particular, is representing persons injured through the negligence of dental providers. Rich has developed a high dental IQ through over three decades of handling dental cases. He has successfully represented scores of injured patients who have had their lives restored by receiving compensation for what they have endured. More information is available on our companion site, www.ctdentalmalpractice.com.

  • Dental Injury cases include:
  • Failure to diagnose oral cancer
  • Failure to diagnose periodontal disease
  • Over treatment
  • Nerve damage
  • Failed crown and bridge reconstruction
  • Orthodontic treatment
  • Implant treatment
  • Root canal treatment
  • Oral surgery errors
  • Failed cosmetic makeovers
  • Veneer treatment
  • TMJ
  • Occlusion issues
  • Anesthesia injuries
  • Extraction injuries
  • Death

With the advent of easily obtained Cone Beam CT Scans nearly all nerve injuries from placement of osseointegrated implants can be avoided. Adequate treament planning should include wax up models of proposed crowns and bridges with an emphasis on occlusion, phonetics and esthetics; and adequate temporization to assure proper fit and function. Dental injuries often occur in a busy practice with no peer review of office procedures.

Legal Malpractice:

Sadly lawyers are also susceptible to errors. We believe that we hav an ethical responsibility to ensure that members of the bar practice within the standards of care. We don’t second guess strategy decisions and decisions made in the heat of a contested trial. The types of issues that can lead to compensation involve failure to commence a law suit within the applicable statute of limitations.
